
Diamond-strength design
CLIENT: Play Sports Network (PSN)
CHALLENGE: Design an emblem graphic inspired by industry trends and communicating backpacking equities
RESULTS: The new products sold well and are still available via the GMBN eCom store.



The eCom team provided these visual references,
to industry-relevant brands, and asked that the graphic be a similar tone to the base product colour, for an understated feel.

I created three quite different possible options, using textures and shapes that evoke mountains and off-road backpacking. They show mountains, backpacking and 'the open road' figuratively to varying degrees. I enclosed the more intricate option A in a diamond shape to increase its versatility for use on different products. The lightening breaking free of the diamond creates an interesting sense of depth.
After reviewing and liaising with the presenters (mountain biking professionals) and and managing director, the eCom team chose to progress the first option with some minor changes.They didn't recognise the lightening bolt to be lightening, so I changed them for more anchored clouds, and requested that I make the path angled, to fit with the rest of the shapes in the graphic. Options B and C were excluded for not positioning the logo prominently enough and being too similar to the core logomark range; respectively.

I made those adjustments and the final design was approved.

I then worked with the presenters, who actually see what colours are being worn on the trails, to determine the final colour range.

The emblem has been used across as range of garments and accessories, and the range is still available to buy via the GMBN eCom store.
